In 2013, salon owner Tanya Kaplun, was trying to decide on a name for her new business venture. Tanya’s background in the hair industry dates back to her great grandmother, Sonya, in Russia during the 1930’s. Sonya was a pioneer in men’s hair styling during a time when it was mostly a male dominated trade. Then it dawned on Tanya, Sonya Salon! An excellent way to pay homage to a passion that has run deep through generations of her family. The same can be said for the entire Sonya team and our love for this industry.
